When You’re the Therapist Who Feels Stuck
You went into this work because you wanted to help people. But graduate school doesn't teach us everything we need to know to manage career transitions: building a career, navigating complex clinical work, or creating a sustainable practice.
Maybe you are staring at an emptier calendar than you expected, wondering when the referrals will finally come.
You know you are a good therapist—but you don't know how to turn that into a sustainable practice that actually reflects your clinical strengths.
Maybe you know you want to specialize in sexuality, identity, intimacy, or other complex areas of clinical work, but you don't know where to begin. You want specialized expertise without feeling like you have to figure out the entire path on your own.
Maybe you have developed a clinical interest that feels deeply meaningful to you, but you are unsure how to claim it professionally—how to articulate your niche, build competence, find the right training, and become known for the work you actually want to do.
Maybe you're questioning where you fit within the social work field. You value the profession, but the traditional career paths no longer feel like they fully capture who you are becoming as a clinician. You want to understand what is possible beyond the role you were originally trained to fill.
Maybe you're ready to start supervision—or return to it. You may be working toward independent licensure, seeking specialized supervision, or simply realizing that having a place to think clinically is something you don't want to go without.
Maybe you've had supervision before and were disappointed. You received oversight when what you really needed was clinical thinking, mentorship, challenge, and depth. You don't want someone simply checking boxes or asking how your week went. You want a supervisor who can actually engage with the complexity of your work.
Maybe you're independently licensed but still don't feel independent. You have the credentials, but you want somewhere to bring the cases that make you pause, the clinical decisions you second-guess, and the questions you don't feel comfortable asking just anywhere.
Maybe you're ready for private practice, but the thought of becoming responsible for everything—finding clients, setting fees, marketing yourself, managing a business, maintaining boundaries, and still being a good clinician—feels overwhelming.
Maybe you have clients coming through the door, but you're struggling with the cases themselves. Something isn't moving. The therapeutic relationship feels stuck. You sense there is something underneath the presenting problem, but you aren't sure how to get there.
Maybe you're simply at a professional crossroads.
You know you want something different. You just haven't figured out what that different thing is yet.
You Are More Than Your Clinical Role.
Many of us are healthcare providers—not just therapists or social workers.
We navigate healthcare systems, complex patient needs, interdisciplinary relationships, ethics, documentation, risk, and the realities of providing care in an increasingly complicated healthcare environment.
And many of us are business owners—not just private practitioners.
We are responsible for the referrals, finances, marketing, systems, operations, boundaries, growth, and decisions that determine whether our practice is actually sustainable.
Those responsibilities don't disappear when you close your therapy office door.
You don't need someone to tell you to just market yourself more, trust yourself, or figure it out.
You need a place where you can bring the real questions—the clinical ones, the career ones, the business ones, and the ones you may be embarrassed to say out loud.
A place to think.
A place to be challenged.
A place to build confidence without pretending you already have it.
You don't have to have your next step figured out before you ask for support.

we can help YOU:
You are not alone in solo practice.
The work we do as clinicians requires more than clinical skill alone.
Whether you are navigating a complex case, building your private practice, developing your clinical identity, or looking to deepen your work with sexuality, identity, relationships, and major life transitions, thoughtful consultation can make a meaningful difference.
The Center for Identity & Sex Therapy offers professional consultation, supervision, training, and business coaching for therapists and helping professionals who want to work with greater depth, clarity, and intention.
Professional Services
Clinical Supervision
Thoughtful, relational supervision for clinicians seeking to deepen clinical judgment, strengthen their therapeutic work, and develop greater confidence with complex clinical presentations.
Clinical Consultation
A space to think carefully about difficult cases, clinical dynamics, sexuality, identity, relationships, and the questions that do not always fit neatly into a textbook or treatment protocol.
Trainings & Education
Specialized education for therapists, organizations, and professional communities exploring sexuality, identity, relational psychotherapy, and the complexities underneath presenting concerns.
Private Practice & Business Coaching

For clinicians who need a different way.
This work is not about collecting more techniques.
It is about learning to think differently.
The goal is to help you develop not only what you do clinically, but a deeper, intersectional understanding of why you are doing it—and what may be happening underneath the presenting problem.

Where Frontline Clinical Rigor Meets Premium Care
Supporting clinicians requires more than offering another set of techniques.
At the Center for Identity & Sex Therapy, our approach to supervision, consultation, training, and business coaching is relational, psychodynamic, practical, and deeply curious.
We believe the strongest professional development happens when you have space to think—not just about what you are doing, but why you are doing it, what you may be missing, and what is happening underneath the clinical or professional problem in front of you.
An Approach Grounded in Depth, Experience & Innovation
To bring this vision to life, Genevieve developed the ALIGN Framework, her signature psychodynamic model of sex therapy. ALIGN provides a structured way to think deeply about the unconscious and relational dimensions of sexuality, identity, intimacy, embodiment, and desire. It is informed by psychodynamic theory while integrating complementary humanistic, meaning-centered, cognitive-behavioral, and somatic perspectives.
She also developed the Empower Your Sexual Health® curriculum, a proprietary educational framework designed to help clinicians develop greater confidence and competence in addressing sexual health, sexuality, and intimacy within clinical practice.
Together, these approaches reflect how she works with clinicians: depth first, but never rigid. We look beyond the presenting problem to consider what may be happening underneath—within the client, within the therapeutic relationship, within ourselves, and within the larger social and relational context.
Her perspective is informed by a:
Master of Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania
a Bachelor's degree in Health Policy & Management from Providence College
LCSW in multiple states
Certified Sex Therapist (CST) credential through the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT)
15 years of healthcare experience
She opened a full-time private practice in 2021, after 5 years in part-time group and solo private practice concurrent with full-time medical social work, maintaining a 95% client retention rate and 70% consultation conversion rate.
She brings this combination of clinical depth, specialized sex therapy expertise, and real-world practice-building experience to supervision, consultation, training, and business coaching for clinicians who want to think more deeply, practice with greater confidence, and build a career that feels genuinely aligned.
We Go Beyond the Textbook.
Our work with clinicians is designed to help you develop clinical judgment, confidence, professional identity, and a deeper capacity to think about complex work.
We may explore:
The clinical dynamics you are encountering—and what may be happening beneath them
Sexuality, identity, relationships, and other areas that can feel difficult to navigate clinically
Transference, countertransference, boundaries, and relational patterns
Complex cases that don't fit neatly into a diagnosis or treatment protocol
Your development as a clinician and the kind of therapist you want to become
Marketing and branding support, including SEO strategy and directory profile rewriting
Building a private practice that reflects your values, strengths, and professional vision
Gaining required supervision hours for independent licensure or certification
Earning CEUs through approved trainings
The goal isn't to tell you how to practice.
It is to help you think more deeply, practice more confidently, and develop your own clinical voice.
